Ya... once you format a drive, it's clean. The data is lost.

If you dont have a backup, there's not much you can do.

Sorry for the bad news.

I get better explanations of errors with CSE than with W3's. I'm not saying W3's is bad, not at all. My opinion is CSE gives me more information and easier ability to fix and verify quicker as well.

Just my opinion.

In the end SEO is NOT the holy grail of the internet. I agree... it all depends on the purpose of the site. But there are quite a few that dont think about this and come back blaming the webmasters. I like to tell clients up front to avoid this. And yes it is possible to get these sites listed but ...

When it comes to DMOZ, do not submit too often.

psyche... if it's been 6 months you can submit again.

I would wait 3-4 month between submitting.

I would blow the partition using FDISK from the CD and then Reinstall Win98 allowing it to format.

This may be a dumb question but did you configure the jumper on the drive to Primary/Slave/Cable select?

Did you try putting it into an Ext. enclosure?

Is it the only drive on the cable internally?

I hope she is aware that Flash sites arent very search engine friendly. I always advise against flash sites, if possible. Then again, she's paying the bill. You might want to inform her if you havent already.

Not sure how much you know about CMS' but look into getting a cheap Linux shared hosting company like Anhosting.com and using Joomla. There are a lot of templates available for free for Joomla. I remember when I was first learning HTML... I got a book published by Sams... Teach Yourself HTML in 24 Hours. It was well worth the money as it gave me a strong foundation for using HTML. I find having a hard copy that I can read helps a bit. If you have specific questions, I'm sure anyone here wi...

I've found CSE HTML Validator a useful tool for validating that kind of stuff. Much better than W3's.

Actually you can do nice, simple menu's with CSS. But then again if you're looking for easy, you probably dont know that much about CSS. It's worth looking into... CSS is more S.E. friendly.

Why not go for a CMS, like Joomla, and run Fireboard.

I run a gaming site for Ultima Online and decided to move to that.

Joomla offers quite a bit for gaming sites.

If you have any questions regarding Joomla and Fireboard, PM me.

I've had a great experience using Google's mail server. It's free and has a great spam filter.

I use my own domain and it also supports IMAP.

Check out Google Apps. We've moved our company email servers there as well now.

I hear a lot of bad things about Dreamhost, but very good things about Hostmonster... I personally like http://www.anhosting.com as they have superb support. I've tried quite a few hosts and their support is by far the best, plus you get quite a bit for your money.
