Hi

I have Winzip installed and I don't see anything regarding zip files down the left either if I have folder view or common tasks view switched on.

wow that is some sweet help you provided there hackeralert! Except he said NT and you gave support on Windows 2000 (NT of course did not have an AD) Maybe he meant Windows 2000 though? Does anyone still actually use NT?? You can also try this program ( not sure if it supports NT ): htt...

I find a soft toothbrush or similar with some isopropol alcahol does the trick nicely for most things. Just get the worst off with a towel etc then you can clean the residue with above (if you have any). Thermal compound is (as far as I am aware) normally non-conductive though so it probs wont do an...

So your saying with the router in its slow but with the router removed from the equasion its fast? errrrr not sure on this one to be honest. You could do a tracert to a games server with it in then with it out and see what that shows. Some Linksys routers have a tick box to make them 'game friendly'...

Ghost would do it lovely BUT its probably going to copy all the corruption & files may still be missing

No idea about this way SecureITGroup is suggesting. Personally I prefer to just reinstall everything and start afresh.

heh that reg hack works fine for me (Outlook 2003) weird! I don't seem to have the disable Messenger option. All I have is 'Enable Person Names Smart Tag' it does have a messenger icon by it though. No matter though as the reg thing works for me, but just out of interest.

Can you get temp readings off the CPU etc? Still worth checking. As SecureITGroup says, its load thats doing it so almost certainly hardware (very unusual for a software error to reboot you) so agree on it could be low power. What processor/RAM/video card do you have and what power supply running th...

Sure delete everything in:

Quote:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F3A614DC-ABE0-11d2-A441-00C04F795683}\LocalServer32

It will be the path to Messenger. Back it up if you think you'll need it again (unlikely!)

I've done it both by Infra-Red (flakey as if you touch the phone you often break the connection) and Blue-Tooth. If your phone/laptop has Blue-Tooth then thats the way to go. Otherwise try and buy the correct phone to serial connection (check your laptop has a serial port, lots don't these days). On...

Gremlins. Or a sunspot. They are notorious for closing I.E.

No idea in other words. Must have been a crash but strange to not get an error.

Not aware of this issue of replication failing but we would normally set the primary DNS server as itself only then secondary as itself for primary then the primary DNS server at its secondary. Never noticed any issue with this method!

Main thing is though the second PC won't be able to get on the net without some kind of Internet Connectioning sharing. Windows has this built in. You need to enable this before you even consider sharing the connection! Do a search for Internet connection shaing in google and you should get quite a ...

Is the router one that has a webserver? Can you http onto that? That would prove if its the router blocking it or not. Checked you don't have any junk in your proxy settings? (tools>Internet Options>Connections? or any other strange internet settings (get another working PC alongside it and ma...
