I think this forum is an example of nofollow when you see the code it has a rel=nofollow in signature part.

Anyways you get a lot of benefits when you are building link in dofollow specially those social bookmarks that do follow.

I think you didn't watched it closer because in my opinion maybe the links in the directories were not crawled immediately that is why it took some time.

I just agree in making it indexed faster because of the main domain has a high rank and ofcourse blogger and google are one. But you still need to work on that.

That is not spam but in the case of duplicate contents ofcourse the authority will be given the authority meaning the sites that you copied. Don't panic you will not get banned.

There are lot of ways and a lot of tools you can use. Try to search "backlink checker" and you can choose any of those and start comparing.
