yeah but the external enclousure has a hard drive inside of it if you take it out of the enclousure you can just install it into the computer as a internal drive

Or maybe you can take the hard drive out of the external hard drive enclousure.

I have never had a problem on any notebooks, the person probably tried to use too much common knowledge about the situation and got the idea that is my be harmful if there was a power spike or surge there would be no cushion for the notebook not thinking there is one in the power pack.

I have a win 2000 server running as a PDC DHCP DNS and File Server, each computer in the house is using the domain however the my internet connection is coming from a remote location my neighbor via wireless. well thanks for the reply no i got a error of vfs: mounted root (ext2 file system) so now what is this error caused by i have no clue but lets home someone can narrow it down to a specific harware pice;) thanks for all the help so far

I am going to bring this topic to a software ? which still relates to the harware peoblem i had someone mail me a copy of the knnopx linux v3.3 to boot to the cd cause as most of you know it is a live cd, and now it get it to boot and it hangs at the harware initizlation process "crc error <6>...
