Very few directories allow automated submissions. If reputable directories are not accepting your site then you’re probably not following the submission guidelines.

I had to recently implement a rather extensive robots txt due to the number of spiders that were on the site at the same time. They were bringing down the whole server. I never really gave much consideration to it previously.

The ALT text matters a lot of you’re a disabled person and should not be stuffed with keywords. It should describe what the image is.

This same phenomenon of directories springing up left and right went on in the late 80’s if I remember correctly. If Google banned you the pages PR would be gone and you would not show up in the search results. It’s a good idea to have removed all the black hat techniques before you really get banned.

Check out the webmaster section in Google and optimize your site as they recommend. It will help you out a lot.

I think see your problem, most of your page is images, and image links. It looks like a link page to Google. Add a site map and more text linkage.

The primary factor on most websites is traffic. PR doesn’t generate traffic. My traffic has doubled and pages indexed by Google have gone up by 20,000 in the past week, yet my PR went down to 6. Seems as though any pages that already had existing PR, their PR was not updated. Any pages w/o a PR were updated.... This is the rumor atleast... and it applies to my site. I have checked several hundred directories. That’s not what I’m seeing, some went to PR 0 and others went up or down slightly.

Mine went down to PR 6 which is fine with me. Now I can at least sell advertising without being accused of selling page rank.
