What you listed aren't web applications. I am talking about web applications that run within the "web application environments" that you listed.

Nessus only checks for server vulnerabilities and I'm pretty sure it doesn't test web-applications, and that is what riv needs..

It only has to do with length when brute-forcing.

Their website was hacked? They are running some open-source web application. It must have been a publically disclosed vulnerability that took them down.

It depends on what they are attacking.. They could be brute-forcing the login, or DDOS, there are several possibilities.

I have focused my PHP studies on security and one great practice is to use an MD5 hash as your password and save it somewhere. The password would look like this:

I mainly used G.I.M.P because it is open-source. There is a huge following for GIMP and there are a ton of brushes and stuff to download. And it is all FREE. GIMP is supposed to be an open-source alternative to photoshop.

Adobe cloud is just another server-based backup system so you don't lose your stuff. It should be used, or a similar system should be used if you are creating expensive material.
