We could make a thread in the Announcements forum. When it is your B-day post it! One flaw would be how do we make sure that they are accurate? It would be just another way to make this a 'friend' enviroment. Instead of posting "its my b-day", all the time we could have one thread. Maybe give 100 points or something and we could always think of something else also! Just an idea if you think that it is stupid shoot me! :D

Damn your harsh, he'll end up with a complex or something! I think it is a great idea, but it should be clearly labled so people know. I think the separate posts would work much better though, because it would add that extra personal touch :-)

Hey b_heyer...

here's your next assignment "should you choose to accept it".

Write the script for the mod to incorporate the member's birthdate (should they choose to add it in their profile). Then set it to do a pop-up to all logged-in members a day before.

I'll tell you this straight up. I understand the concept of how to do that (sorta), but you're better at php than me, so I'm guessing if anyone can do it you can. What do you think?

actually, i'm pretty sure there's one already written but it's a tad
different. it would list all the day's birthday members and their age.
Bigweb could require a birthday on signup, which would in turn allow the
age to be calculated.

probably don't need anything more than that, i would think.

Yeah, I believe there is already a birthday mod written for PHPBB. As far as incorporating the points system to work in with the birthday mod, there would probably need to be some code written as I am not sure there is a mod to do that.

I think this birthday thing is a good idea. But make it so a person can only set their birthday 1 time... At sign up. Then have it like have a double check thing.. ya know where they have like

Password: a;lskjdfasdf

Password again: a;lskjdfasdf

except it would be

Birthdate:

Birthday again:


Yeah thats just my idea. And incase i slipped around above, here is a conclusion.

Have a birthday input field when you sign up, Make them double check it and never be able to edit it again... so they can't 'cheat'
