cowkiller, next time do a search on here and you will find numerous locked gmail threads. Here is the official one. Just PM anyone of those ppl to get an invite if you want.

It won't be unlocked but I have edited my response. It used to be open to the public and is not anymore. So now I've added the link to the locked thread so that someone can PM anyone in that thread and ask for invites.

It's still in Beta testing and Google apparently don't have a date set for when it goes public. However, I did read today that they're looking at upping the storage to 2GB.

Personally I hope it never changes
Think of how many automated signups & what not that were avoided by releasing it the way they did.

It's also a great marketing ploy - make something invite only and unavailable and suddenly everyone wants one. Heck, I've even got one - I must have 15 different email accounts now (and I defo have no need for 1GB storage).

The whole beta thing is just a ploy.
Google just like to use viral marketing instead of actual marketing. Its a lot cheaper.
They tell you its "cool" to have Gmail, then only give a handfull of people the "power" to allow others to also be "cool",, it makes people want it even more.

Same as with the 2 Gigs of storage.
Giving the average user 2 Gigs is like giving a fish a free bicycle. yea its cool, but whats the point?

This is google all over.
They give you something dated and old and trick you into believing its new and revolutionary.
