I received an Ozzu message a while ago. When I checked it out, I found that it was under the heading of "Tips" and was a link to another site --
Link Removed (If they're spamming, no sense making it easier for them) -- from someone I don't know.

Then I noticed that the sender, kittymeow, just joined Ozzu today.

I'm wondering if everyone on Ozzu received the same message.

No, I have not recieved this, but I would pass it on to Atno, or one of the other moderators. They would most likely want to know about it. Just PM one of them. :)

It appears that Atno or someone has already seen my post and deleted the URL of the site in question.

There was no message, other than a link.

I just looked in on it and that member spammed that message to about 2200 members. I deleted all of the spam PMs and banned the member.

Does this mean you can see all the pm's that are sent to people if you like?

I must stop sending out "hate" PM's to people if this is the case

Only Bigweb can, and the only time he checks is when PM spam is reported.

BIGWEB..

Is he the 2006 version of "1984"'s BIG BROTHER? ? LOL

BTW, what's the policy about putting my own site's link at the foot of my e-mails? It seems that a lot of members do that. If it's okay, does it have to be Web-related or can it be an unrelated product or service? Thanks.

You can check out the Rules and Regulations for a more in-depth look to what this rule is.

However, there is no problem for having links in your signature providing their are not for adults only etc etc as there are alot of younger members on this board.

Like i say, check out the rules for a better look at what the requirements for sigs on Ozzu are.

How do I make the URL (http://www.humistat.com) into a link?

Can I make the signature line a different color (e.g., orange, yellow)?

Thanks!

make a link by doing this...

[url=*whatever the domain name is*]*ISERT TEXT YOU WANT DISPLAYED*[/url]

Remember to replace the * with whatever you wish to add.

To get colour on your link then you do this...

[url=*whatever the domain name is*][color=*what is the colour*]*INSERT TEXT YOU WANT DISPLAYED*[/color][/url]

Again, replace the * with whatever you wish the colour, domain, or content to be. There is a test forum where you can play about. Might as well give it a use.

As you can see, I was able to give the text color, thanks to your guidance. However, I can't seem to turn the URL into a link. What am I doing wrong? :?

It looks like you are putting the before the . Copy and paste this Involved...

[url]test[/url]

When you do that put this...=http://www.example.com... (without the ...) immediatly after the first "url".

This should look like this...

test

If you still dont seem to be getting it then click on "quote" button on this post and basically copy and paste the example i managed to get work and then edit the appropriate bits. I hope this helps.

just realised i could have made this easier by removing BBCode from my post. I will do it here. Basically, copy following and paste in your signature field in your profile...

[url=www.example.com][color=yellow]Test[/color][/url]

and amend to suite whatever you are wanting to do. It really isnt that difficult.

Thanks for the follow up. After playing around with all the different configurations, I guess I can't make the text one color (aqua, as below) and the link another (e.g., yellow). If so, it's fine like it is.

ATNO...My thanks to you and the Dust Puppy in the UK for your help. I didn't realize that I had to repeat my site's URL in the command line. Live and learn, right?

P.S. Is ATNO/TW an acronym? Do the letters have a particular meaning you can share with us? (Perhaps I'm the only member who doesn't know, LOL).

I have a post from a couple years ago that explains it, but

ATNO = A True Night Owl
TW = The Webmaster

(two very old handles I've used for going on ten years)

Thanks. Actually, when I log on and have a question, I check to see if you're online because you know your stuff :D

Seems to me like you're online 24/7/365, LOL.

I thought I would share this with you all...

A couple of years ago I used to get hundreds of spam messages per day, Now, I am getting - 0 - (zero) spam messages. I filter my form subjects. So the only mail I get in my email application is for business only. I figure the only way to get spammed is if the spammers actually fill out my form and hit the send button, otherwise if they just use my direct email, they would never get it to me. Hahahahaha!

Anyone can do this, if you want me to set you up, I can help you do it to your mailbox. But, I can only Guarantee it to work for the following account types:

Pop3, Hotmail, IMAP and AOL email accounts

Works wonders!

Yes, I have received two SPAM PM's within the last week. Today's user(abhinav_1403) sent me a message about joining his "company" in India?!?!? Hopefully there will be better SPAM and user tracking. Thanks for the site and keeping it going!
