Well ozzu is a webmaster site correct?
Webbmasters dont only do pictures, do they?
Accually many of them
they code!

If it is in asp, php, ajax or simply html.

I think it would be great to have coding competitions more often.
(by looking at this it looks like coding competitions is not so common)

Photography Competition? Digital Art Competition?
And it goes over the whole page accually. Not a single coding competition in sight.

Isnt it a shame that coding gets second after pictures?
we all know how to make pics. Dont it gets a little gay to show it over and over again but about a diffrent theme?
But I guess pics is the way to go if you aim at a broad audience. :roll:

Any thoughts on a kickoff theme for the first coding competition ?

I've long wanted to get a "Extend Ozzu" coding competition going, but haven't had a solid idea about how to turn it into a competition the most people could participate in.

Right now that idea boils down to creating one of
  1. Alternate CSS for the light theme - Wouldn't have to embed images or be only for Opera like this example, the only restriction would be that it must use Ozzus' current HTML.
  2. user.js for Opera or Firefoxes Greasemonkey addon - Only limit is your imagination, & that it can't be a security hazard of course.
  3. Opera Widgets - Only limit is your imagination & that it can't be a security hazard of course.
  4. Firefox Addons - Only limit is your imagination & that it can't be a security hazard of course.
  5. Internet Explorer Sidebars - Only limit is your imagination & that it can't be a security hazard of course.

Entries would be judged by
  1. Audience reach - How many platforms are able to utilize it. For instance an awesome Greasemonkey script may take a hit in this field if it can't easily be used as an Opera user.js & vice-versa.
  2. Effect to footprint ratio - How usefull is it compared to how big it is and how many resources it uses. For instance a user.js which includes the entire Prototype.js library just so it can use the $() function & make the side menu collapsable could take a hit in this field.
  3. Coolness factor - It could be the most efficient, miraculous piece of code ever written, but if nobody would use it what's the point of having it ? Uninteresting extensions could take a hit in this field.
