Older Topic Completion

This situation happens quite alot. People are looking to help others and resurect an old topic. For example :

Perhaps there is a MOD that either lets the topic starter mark it resolved or perhaps get the topic starter to manualy mark it resolved in the topic name.

I agree with this, but you have to remember that in certain posts (like the one you linked) this member was new and most likely did a search to find any posts that might have something to do with his/her problem.

I agree that certain posts should be locked, but this example isnt one of them.

I notice the Moderators encourage people to use the search facility, yet if posts like the one linked above were locked then people would just start a new discussion on something that could be sorted in moments.

I'm not suggesting the topics get locked, that was another member.

What I'm suggesting is that there be a tick box on the topic starters first post (like the delete box) that can be pressed to mark the topic resolved, or get them to mark them resolved manually.

I like the idea, although it seems like that might be a bit of work to do that. Probably more than its worth.

Definatly something worth looking into.

this won't work for one reason: people are lazy. they don't even take the time to post topic titles properly as it is, and then you want to give them the responsiblity to mark it resolved too?

I think your idea is great on paper, but in reality with as big as OZZU is, it just won't work. I know the mods arent' going to want to take on this responsibility either, we've all got way too much to do as it is!
