Hello everyone,

Just thought of something...

If Ozzu could have a selling section.. where people could sell websites, and computer products etc.. domains and other general computing goods.
This would also create quite a bit of traffic to Ozzu, meaning more members using Ozzu Forums.
I think it would be a good idea for everyone to sell things they don't want and/or want money for $$ :D

Well this is my thought doubt it will work out or ever actually happen but just a thought which could happen who know's??

I'd quite like a section like this..

Some responses please..

David.

A Buy/Sell could be kinda neat... I'm sure there's many of us here that have all kindsa crazy hardware laying around that we no longer need that others may want. But I think if it happened, it should have some similar pre-post "I Agree" (like the website reviews forum) page to inform people that it is for PERSONAL classifieds only, and not businesses advertising products, etc. otherwise it could get abused too easily.

that is not a bad idea.....of course you would have to trust the seller and the buyer i imagine.

I agree - This sound problematic. Especially when someone feels like they got screwed over in a deal.

Although an interesting idea, I do not think something like this would work out too well and would cause more problems then it is worth. I can already see spammers trying to abuse this area. I think something like this is better left to Ebay.

Buying/selling good for marketers.
Buying/selling headache for webmaster/moderators.

That's the conflict here :) Although, I like the idea.
Consideration may be a good thing too :) give it
a try for a week and if people spam, just close down,

Let me put a different swing on this. The mods and Bigwebmaster already pretty much leave requests on the board in need of services for those willing to pay for them (but we almost always lock those posts when we see them if the person has contact info available). The "buy" stuff almost, if not always, gets nixed as SPAM which is what it is.

I would offer the solution for a forum board dedicated to those in need of help and willing to pay. The idea would be to fill out a form with the details for the request (including a contact email address) and then the post would immediately be locked with no mod maintenance or intervention except to delete innapropriate requests).

However, I'm not skilled enough to write a mod like that in PHP.

My own feelings on the "buy" end of this is that's just gonna end up spam 99% of the time.

I've seen other forums try this- a lot of them- only HUGE forums can usually pull it off.

anandtech is about the only one I've seen do it well.

it might get overrun by spam...
but, if there were some kinda of lock on it, to only allow users with a certain amount of posts to use it, it could work out (maybe).
the only users who have spent time to post on ozzu, and get a respectable post count can post.

maybe even a different sort of service.
not to sell goods, maybe services...

like requests for a graphics designer
or webdesigner

just a thought.
