At the moment...only mods can post new topics. My suggestion would be to let it go that members can post topics. Truly, it's no different than the other boards. I'm sure b_heyer knows by know how to make announcements and sticky posts for current or ongoing competitions...If not, I'll tell him how in PM...but I just tried to make a post non-related to any existing ones, but relavent to the forum and realized I couldn't. Any possibility of opening that one up a bit?

Specifically...I'm thinking that the "Post a Competition Here" post is going to get extremely large and it would be much easier for people to post thoughts on top-level vs running through large threads.

That is a good point as long as it doesn't get out of hand. I could sticky current competitions/voting and make the request a competition an announcment. Then older competions would fall nicely away regardless if someone just posted on them. As a matter of fact I think I will sticky the only current one we have right now and see how htat works :-P

That works. Then after the competition is over...alll you have to do is "edit" the primary post and make it "normal" again and it will fall to wherever it may.

That sounds pretty good to me. Do you want me to enable that area so everyone can post new topics b_heyer?

yes please. Since it is a competition forum I was wondering what your thought were on disabling the deletion/editing of posts for users?

Here's how I did it at my sports forum b_heyer... All the Subs are anyone can post and members can edit....I'm in the process of writing the code for an automated sports pool that will in essence prevent people from editing their "picks"....in the meantime...I nixed editing in the NFL football pool forum...since we're doing everything manually at the moment.

I would strongly suggest not allowing the editing funtction in the competition forum. If editing needs to be done...let it be done by you or the other mods/admins...and not by the competitors.

Okay I just changed the permissions of the competition's forum so that:

All members can post and reply
Only mods can edit and delete
All members can vote
Only mods can create polls

Let me know if you think that is good.

Yep -- b_heyer --- you are going to pass Unflux on posts if he doesn't get on-the-ball....teehee!
