Who stole the ellipsis?

I quite often have the bad habit of using an ellipsis in my posts (dot-dot-dot)

I was inactive on Ozzu for a week or two and have now noticed that they no
longer display as an ellipsis, but rather just as plain old period.

Has anything been done recently to cause that?


btw . I don't particularly care if they do or not come
back- it just struck me as slightly bizarre. I can't imagine this being an intentional change.
Maybe it is an indication of some other problem?

The period in the above sentence (after "btw") is actually three periods (an ellipsis)
but is being rendered as a single period ... This << orange
one is fine, but was not there when it had no colour.

There are several used in this post - not all of them display, although some do. The
preview page also changes which ones to show depending on how many and
where you put them. There a couple below:

One of the mods Bigweb installed in the upgrade does this:

# Remove Extra Exclamation Marks automatically from topic titles
# Remove Extra Question Marks automatically from topic titles

I'm wondering if it's related. I just tested a couple variations of it, and it definitely filters the extra periods.

I would say definately related.


They are not that common - although I use them liberally - which is how I noticed.

I will have to look into this. Removing ellipsis was not intentional so I will investigate.
