Hi,

I have a text file (error log) that's over 5Gb in size  I can't load the whole file but is there a way (i know there is) of just loading the first few lines?

It's a FreeBSD server.

Thanks, Prime

Maybe you meant:

Code: [ Select ]
# man head

If he indeed wants the first few lines.

I was guessing that since he was looking at the error log he'd want to see the most recent entries. Though he did ask how to see the "first" few lines, so good point.
