Hi MySQL Boffs,

I have been given resposibility to adminster our my company's website.
We use a Content Management System.

I would like to add abilities to it such as a Meta Tag & Title field for new pages I create

I have started self-teaching myself PHP & MySQL on my local computer using WAMP server and using Dreamweaver to edit pages.

I manage to connect to the published database with DreamWeaver, but I need to modify the tables in the database

>>>>> BOTTOM LINE
How can I manage the database if it is already on the web???
Do I use a program?? Which One??

Help!!

Thanks in advance,
John

You can either fire up a Win32 client like Query Analyzer or install phpMyAdmin on the remote server. I prefer phpMyAdmin, but the GUI clients for Windows are here: http://dev.mysql.com/

So I install phpMyAdmin on my remote server and then go to http://www.eiledon.co.za/[phpMyAdmin]?

Any special procedure or do I just upload the folder?

There is a detailed INSTALL file with the phpMyAdmin distribution. It's not hard, upload it and modify a config file to point to the server. Then just go to yourdomain.com/folder_you_put_phpMyAdmin/ and log in with your database credentials.

There are several things you will need to do the first thing is to grant yourself rights to access the server remotely.

GRANT ALL ON *.* to 'username'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

Thats from the mysql console. Once you have done that use whatever remote software you want.

The latest versions of the mysql administrator are pretty good.
