I am trying to add a Database account to mysql and since I made the change from mandrake 9.1 to mandrake 10 I cannot even locate mysql.
I have set it to run on boot in the configuration. I have verified mysql is running. But, now I need to add a user datatbase/account name & password.

I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

thanx,

If you do "which mysql" from the command line it should tell you where mysql is.

there should already be a user names root - you can log in like so:
%mysql -u root

if that doesn't work, use the full path that was reported with "which mysql"

you'll then want to set your passwords for root, so do:
mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR ''@'localhost' = PASSWORD('newpwd');
mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR ''@'host_name' = PASSWORD('newpwd');

replace host_name with your host name and newpwd with your password

this taken from the MySQL Installation guide, which can be found HERE
