What do you mean 'right after boot but not during boot' ?

You either have 'during boot' or you have 'just after login'. You could of course mean that you want something to run as the very last thing in the bootup sequence, in which case I suspect you're looking for /etc/rc.d/rc.local (assuming a RedHat type install).

If you can give me a bit more info I may be able to help :)

(And sorry its been so long since you posted, I'm just trawling looking for 0 reply posts I might be able to help answer :))
