I am running Drake 9.0 and jsut downloaded afterstep. After i tared it i configured it then installed it and so on. no luck running it. In installation manual it says that once you Update desktop it will appear in the menus, but i dont have an update button. I reseted x server and yet it's showing nowhere. I installed this in /home/user directory with root priviliges. Is this a correct directory for installation? How can I manualy start this windows service of afterstep.?? I went through configuration files but to me it seemed as if everything was configured and ready to roll?!! HELP HELP? Thank you

If you have it installed properly, you need to call it via the X framework.

In your home dir should exist a file called .xsession/.xinitrc.
Edit that to include;
exec afterstep

If it already has one, edit the existing WM to afterstep.

It could be more difficult than this, but let's try the easy stuff first.

BTW, if the .xsession/.xinitrc file does not exist, make it.
