Post 3+ Months Ago

I made the rookie mistake of loading it on a laptop as an experiment and walked away from it for about 7 months and now remember nothing about the installation...including the username and password I used, so I can't get past turning the machine on.

Not sure how to go about retrieving any of that. Is it even possible or do I just need to figure out how to uninstall and start over? Can't seem to find the answer on their forum. Any insight appreciated.

If you still want Ubuntu, boot with the same disc & go though the install again. If you want a different OS, then boot with that disc.

If you don't have anything important on the laptop, which considering you mentioned experiment appears to be the case, I think you should download and install the latest version of Ubuntu and start over again.

The installation process will be helpful in bringing you back up to speed.
