What are you using to start it?

Use /usr/local/sbin/apachectl <start/stop>

To cleanly begin and end the process.

Also just for the record, and in case you were unaware; if you came from linux, ps -aef will not show you everything.
ps -ax is the bsd'ish version you want to utilize.

If you run the apachectl start and ps -ax does not show running procs -- check the logs for configuration errors.

Cheers.

Do you mean mod_mime_magic?

What are the errors? How did you install Apache BTW? Did you use the ports collection, or download the source yourself (if the latter, why?)

Just saying you have a "bunch of errors" does not help in problem determination.
