I just loaded a very basic HTML home page on my Linux server and for some reason, the site images wont display. You can see the page itself is called index.html and the images are called carl.jpg (banner) & firefox.gif

Can someone please look at what I have done in CLI and or my page source to maybe find out why they wont show up. Everything is in the same directory /var/www/html[ :oops:

Because your HTML file is pointing to incorrect locations :)

http://carlwill.dyndns.org/var/www/html/carl.jpg

Code: [ Select ]
<img width=600 height=100 id="_x0000_i1025" src="/var/www/html/carl.jpg" border=0>

Also, you may wanna learn how to actually code basic HTML to get a better understanding of it and not do it in Micro$oft word :)

The source of the file is in /var/www/html. There you can see I have stored my index.html file and the images that are associated with the page. What would the src= look like then?

I'll be the first to admit that I am no HTML expert my any means - I have a hard time with it as you can tell. :oops:

I don't know why MS Word shows up as I did this site in Dreamweaver MX 2004.

Thanks for the assistance.

The LOCAL path of the file is /var/www/html/carl.jpg

The PUBLIC path to the file is http://carlwill.dyndns.org/carl.jpg <-- Click it, see for yourself :)

Code: [ Select ]
<img width=600 height=100 id="_x0000_i1025" src="/var/www/html/carl.jpg" border=0>

Should be..

Code: [ Select ]
<img src="carl.jpg" width="600" height="100" border="0">

Thanks,

I was able to move the files to a dir. I created for the site images that are embedded into the page itself.

Everything seems to be working. Now to get things going.

Thank you.
