AVI Player in Ubuntu 7.10

Does anyone know a decent AVI player for Ubuntu Gutsy?

and while im asking... my favourite mp3 plater xmms has been removed from the repository... i take it its been replaced?

I don't know about that xmms thing, but try getting xine. It is a good music\video player that supports lots of formats and has lots of skins to choose from.

i would recommend apt-get'ting vlc. it'll play pretty much all video formats, from avi to dvd to wmv. as for xmms, i feel your pain but i'm not sure what canonical is doing with their repos as i'm currently using fedora >.< although my xmms is all kinds of screwed for no reason, so i've been using banshee. its a pretty good audio player imo, has a nice / fast search function & the program doesn't lag out your computer like amarok -_-

XMMS hasnt been taken out of the repository i jsut hadnt updated lol

its giving me this error though...

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
xmms: Depends: libmikmod2 (>= 3.1.10) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages


It needs libmikmod2 as a dependancy but cant install it? i mean dude WTF

7.10 is terrible from what i can gather NOTHING works

I have a test machine set up running 7.10 right now.. I will go through and work out what needs to happen ;) Probably later today.. I don't care if I break it.. it should be running slackware :lol:

issue resolved, just had to add the MAIN ubuntu repository in the sources.list

funny how its part of the main sources and is EVEN as an 'example' yet they forgot to put it in.

i was figuring that would resolve your avi issue as well..
&& that is quite odd that they didn't add it lol
at least it works tho =]
