OK so I've been a Linux user for about a year and I have decided I need to put my two cents in on making a my own linux spin or distribution. Have any of you guys worked on a custom distro?

I need a reading list Linux related material. Who can recommend some good books. I'd like to be able to accomplish this with 4,000 pages or less of reading if possible. :explodesmilie:

What exactly is it that you want to customize? Figure that out and then look for articles/books on that particular topic.

i.e. kernel, device drivers, X11, window managers, desktop environments, etc.

I just want to make something that has LAMP, Java, ssh, web and seo tools, ftp, developement environments, things a person might use everyday. Something i can run on more than 256 cores. And right click context menu for formatting SD or flash card and right click context menu installer for TARs. Other than that it would be a fun project. I found a book on kernel developement and started reading that.
