download linux, burn cds, install as dual boot, U GOT A SHELL!! woot!

If you do not want to install Linux, you could try Cygwin.

Theirs a version of slack ware on CD also . and some more if you use search engine.

actually i'd suggest Cygwin over knoppix if you have applications that you are running in windows and you need the shell beside it. besides, if you put the Cygwin bin directory in your windows path, your windows command consol suddenly support the wildcard character :D and a lot more commands than what it originally came with.

but dual booting is always a good idea and will probably help you learn more about the shell then Cygwin could.

huezune, it's the unix/linux command line (like the windows command promt)

Actually, the shell is both a programming language and command language that provide an interface to the core *nix operating system.
