Hey guys,

I'm running a VPS server with 2GB ram and am trying to reduce CPU/RAM usage.

There are no email accounts on the server so I am thinking that I could disable the IMAP/POP3 server to reduce the CPU usage.

I tried to upload a screenshot but phpBB restricted me from posting external links, here is the screenshot:

Some PHP scripts and CMS's send emails and I need to keep this functionality.
If I keep the SMTP server (qmail) service running will these scripts be able to still send emails?

Is the IMAP/POP3 server just for email accounts hosted on the server?
If so, does anyone know how to do this, I can't see any way to disable the service startup in Plesk (8.6.0)...

Thanks :)

There is a similar thread. Does that help?

Thanks for the reply Don2007,

It's more or less the same problem as mine, except I want to disable the service(s) completely...

From the above post: "f you are using Plesk you should turn off the mail service at the domain level.". I already have it disabled for every domain, but trying to turn it off as a service on the VPS via Plesk is proving tricky :)

Thanks
