i have a database in a server...

i dumped it to a .sql file, i can open it with any text reader like notepad++ ( windows ) and evey character looks ok...
the database is in portuguese and so some are special characteres... they all look ok, but when i upload the file to the server those chars get al messed up.

i edited the file with pico and there they are.. all messed up...

i try upload via ftp using binary mode... but it didnt solve anything...

any ideas on how to fix this?

the file is too big to load on phpmyadmin

i used mysql front... i had to use an ssh tunnel cause my web hosting company didnt allow remote connections.

well...i fixed it already... i will post the solution in case somebody have the same problem.

I figure the sql file was in "ascii as ansii". i created a new text file on my computer and i notice that by default the text files were in some other format.

So i just copy-pasted the content of my sql file to a blank file i have just created. Then i renamed it to .sql and loaded it... i think i used mysql front... but i think after changing the text files defenitions it would work anyway.

thx for the help deamon
