checking MAC addresses

i know this is an odd question, but i wanted to know if anybody knew how to check what mac addresses are connected to my linux computer...like in the proc directory, theres got to be some kind of file or something that tells that information right? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am not entirely sure what it is you are looking for, but if yuo need to know your own mac, try ifconfig -a .

If you want to know the macs of those around you,
arp -a.
