communication software

I have a us-Robotics Sportster externel modem. I found out how to config the dip switch settings but i need to config the the NVRAM. but i cant find any communication software to do the job, im runing linux can anyone help?

I was looking at that same tutorial but in HTML form.

pppd is probably what you're looking for, as far as I can tell. If you just want software to dial-up, wvdial is an easier command-line alternative, and KDE and Gnome almost certainly come with graphical front-ends.
