configuring dsl pppoe on knoppix

i have a pppoe dsl modem at home and i want to configure it to use on the knoppix live linux system. i have found the tool [i think] for doing this, but i cannot connect to the internet/modem. i have a username and password. also is there any way to script the automatic setup of this every time i boot the disk?
