Hi, I was just wondering what the advantages and disadvantages of Gnome and KDE.
Is it good to have both desktops installed for versatility?

Thank you.. :)

Installing both can't hurt. Some Linux distros have a switchdesk command.

Playing around with both would be advantageous. As far as which one to use primarily, well that is a matter of preference. I think it is about 50/50 for which one people choose.

I prefer KDE myself.

and a lot of Gnome apps can be installed on KDE, just takes up a bit more space when it has gnome specific dependencies.

which is the same scenario w/KDE. i use the gnome desktop but still have the kde games installed. usually the more you try, the more you'll find out what you like and dislike which makes the choice of which to use easier :]
