Distributed Share Memory

Does anyone hear about Distributed Share Memory ? Or anyone interests in it ?

It seems a technology applied in a distribution computing environment, and very popular in a few years ago, but not now. Unfortunately, I choose this topic as my class project. So I'm just wondering anyone can give me more ideas about it.
