linuxiso is the best place to grab linux iso files. this is the knoppix section of the site. download the english/german version and burn it in a cd. put the cd inside your cd rom tray and restart your computer. that's it.

well, i'd guess that since it's not a harddrive install, none of the settings would be saved and you probably wont be able to install other apps unless you let knoppix create a configuration file somewhere in your windows partitions.

but i haven't used knoppix in like a year and a half so things might've changed. would anyone else like to clarify?

While it is not advertised to do this, once you book knoppix, there is a command you can use to install it to the hard drive so you can use it and save your settings.

any cd burning software will (should) have a burn image feature.
for eg, in nero, you go to burn image and select the iso file and it will bun it in a cd.

put the cd in the drive and restart the computer.
if that doesnt work, then check the bios settings of your computer to make sure it boots from the cd before it boots from the harddrive.
