hi all have got problem whith my linux box actualy am using laptop its booting well up to place where i have to write user name its give me this msg " u have to configure this file etc/gdm.config " so please help me out of this problem

gdm is the Gnome gui interface for logins much like kdm for kde or the basic xdm for standard X11.

What I don't understand is, are you able to log in, or does the machine halt?

Which Linux is it? I would (generically) say, boot to single-user mode and enter root's PW. You should be able to edit any improper config files from the CLI.

hi am using rh9 and also have done it in single mode its comes the same msg
