Hey all
I am trying to setup a virtual domain to fail all but a few specific email addresses

currently all emails to mydomain.com go to my inbox. I only want some very specific email addresses to go to my inbox

so I set up an alias file using cpanel (server runs exim)
Code: [ Select ]
jack@mydomain.com: username@mydomain.com
sue@mydomain.com: username@mydomain.com
*: :fail: no such email address here
  1. jack@mydomain.com: username@mydomain.com
  2. sue@mydomain.com: username@mydomain.com
  3. *: :fail: no such email address here

I expected that emails to the above aliases plus emails to username@mydomain.com would go to my email account and all other emails would fail

Alas All emails now fail with "no such email address here"

I have searched and searched but can't find out why

I tried changing the alias file to
jack@mydomain.com: username
...

but still no joy.

obviously I am missing something very simple but can't figure it out. how do I tell exim to allow username@mydomain.com to be delivered to username's email box

Any hints to what I am doing wrong please

Chris

P.S. username is the user who owns the domain eg: /home/username
