Ok, I have been running a windows server and I want to switch to linux. I am switching to FC3 because i freind of mine told me that it was pretty noob friendly. I burned the ISO images and put in disc 1 and did a reboot. and it asked me if i would like to check the media. i sid sure and it passed the test. then it said install, blah blah blah. Then i heard all this stuff about reformatting my drive before i could do it. i cancled instalation before it started. Now, i am going to install my old HD. But, when i go to isntall FC3 is it going to ask me which drive i want to install on. I am kind of weary (sp?). I was also thinking about partition magic. What do you guys think?

Thx

If you are 'switching', then it should not have mattered that you formatted the Windows drive, no? :)

Just choose to install to the second drive; it should also ask if you would like to install a boot manager. This will allow you to boot from either the Windows installation or the Linux.

Good luck.

no, only back up what you need, you'll just need the installers for software, rather than copying the installed files..

most likely you wont be needing any of windows' files, C:\WINDOWS

you can compress everything you want before you burn it, to save space
