You don't have permission to access /helpdesk/cgi-bin/admin.cgi on this server.

I am getting this error tring to run pdesk.cgi on my server. I have the chmod set to 777 and I think i have cgi enabled correctly. What other reasons would I this error. Anyone have some insite on this? Thanks,

Justin

Directory control is recursive, ergo if you do not have access to the previous level directory, you do not have access to the file. Also, you have to correctly set perms in the httpd.conf for cgi-bin access.
To be honest it could be any number of things.

BTW, setting anything that is public facing to 777 is "bad" (TM). :)

Cheers.

my guess is that you need to enable running cgi scripts in the directory
with htaccess. but like daemonguy said, it could be a number of things.
