Getting license for your source code

hello frenz..

i have source-code that i had written myself and i want to release that code unde GNU_GPL but i do not know the way in which i can take the license and release that code............
if any body knows about it please tell me...........

actually i went to http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html and read all instructions.............all these things i can do perfectly...............but if somebody deletes these lines ( GPL lines) and change my name to his........where can i claim that this code has been written by me.....i mean is there any way to register code for you on any website....which can later be claimed that this code belongs to you....

You apply for Copyright in the normal way to protect your ideas, the GPL then giives people the free access to reuse them (provided everything remain GPL'd...)
