This topic is only for FreeBSD anything and everything on FreeBSD.

I'm downloading FreeBSD. There was these three iso images. disc1.iso. disc2.iso and mini.iso. Do i need to download the mini .iso?Another question i have is this.

Making a Boot Floppy. It wants me to copy fdisk.exe from c:\windows\command\. If you are using MS Windows NT skip this step. I'm using Windows XP pro and i do not see fdisk.exe under the windows directory. I don't think fdisk comes with XP. This boot floppy will be used to repartition my hard drive. What should i do? Do i need to create a boot floppy? All of my boot floppies have write protection on them. How can i remove the write protection so i can make my FreeBSD boot floppy?

Thanks everyone

I need help makeing my FreeBSD bootable floppy. I will read the instructions.

Making a Boot Floppy

In this step you will create a bootable floppy to be used in repartitioning your hard drive.

1. Insert a blank 3.5 floppy (if the floppy is not blank it will be erased during these steps) into your 3.5 floppy disk drive.

2. Under "My Computer" right click on the floppy and go to "format."

3. Select "Full" for the format type and click start. After the formatting is done close the "Format Results" windows that pops up (if the windows pops up).

4. Select "Copy system files only" for format type and click start.

5. Close the format windows. You now have a bootable floppy.

6. Copy fips.exe, errors.txt, and restorrb. exe from the FreeBSD CD in x:\Tools\scrs\fips\ (where x is the drive letter of your CD rom) to this bootable floppy disk.

7. Copy fdisk.exe from c:\windows\command\. If you are using MS Windows NT skip this step.

I copyed the fips.exe, errors.txt and restorrb.exe to the bootable floppy. When i put the floppy in my disk drive and i restart. I get this. Remove any disks or other media. Press any key to restart. What could i be doing wrong? Can someone help me some time this morning?

Thanks everyone

lumpypore - thsi poor soul was banned from ozzu for variosu reasons.
He was always trying to do things like this and refused our help most of
the time. After he made some negative posts about other members and
then about the board in general, we decided to ban him.

So, if you find any posts made by him, you can ignore them. :D
