help with linux installation

What format do I need to format a hd for linux red hat 9.0? and how do I do format the hd to that format? Can anyone please help me?

I think you need a good manual .. to start with RedHat

Read in this.... but in fact , you don't need to format. The Red Hat installation will do the job for your ( creating all the dirs etc... )
