How to close ports ?

I ran nmap on a solaris machine v7 .... & i have a report stating xyz ports are open. How do I close down these ports ?

It depends on the port. Some can be shut down via removing them from xinit. Some require wrappers, since they are valid and required processes.

This is really a much larger question than you may realize. You will have to research each and every port you have open -- especially if you don't intend to port them -- and figure out what works best for each. :)
