it say that i need to upgrade to the latest kernel in order to install ait drivers, how do i upgrade to the latest kernel, do i have to worry about dependencies?

no, you dont have to worry about dependancies.
the newest kernel should come with a regular update, so open a terminal. su to root. then to a yum update
