I am installing gtk lib fom its source package and its base dependencies are glib, pango, cairo.
They are already installed in my system using rpms.
When i use ./configure for gtk+ it shows these dependencies are not installed.
some error related to pkg-config
What can be done??
Please help

You fail to mention which distribution you are employing, nor if the failed dependencies are a result of the source seeking perhaps a later build.
I tend to find that 'packages' lag source. If you install from package, you should install like packages.
It's possible that pkg-config was telling you just that; a differential between the package you have installed and perhaps an update that went unrecorded.

Check ./configure --help and see if there are options for, say, --with-pango=/the/place/where/you/installed/pango.

Another issue may be your LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If the source configure is using that to look for libraries, you may want to check that and make sure that the directories which contain the libraries for the dependent software are included in that when you run the configure.

Hope that helps a bit :)
