There are two versions of a software. One is installed, one I am trying to install.
Each one has a .profile file that is in the corresponding folder. This .profile file sets the environment variables for the software. The older version's .profile file is being executed at startup and setting up the environment variables. I want to change the start up script so that the .profile file of the new version that I am trying to install will be run instead of the old one.

Good, have fun.

Or were you wanting some help as to what you should do? I couldn't tell realy since you didn't have any questions in your post.

However I'd botch my way through it, backing-up the first .profile, then replacing it with the second one.
