I am a newbie and I need some expert help to troubleshoot driver installation problem.

I just install Mandriva and it works okay mostly except the audio part.
My MB is ASUS P5K Pro and come with a onboard audio - Realtek ALC883 chip.

I have downloaded the driver from the MB manufacturer as well as from realtek.
They basically same except the version.

Just follow the installation instruction for automated installation but failed.
Go for the manual installation step by step and got the following error while compiling the driver:
:

make[1]: *** [sub-make] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.24.4-server-3mnb'
make: *** [compile] Error 2

Can't figure out what's wrong and how to proceed... Anyone can help?

Yes, but just 1 version older. The one now list for download is 5.04 but I got the one 5.03.

I also asked ASUS Technical support directly for the driver and support and the answer is they won't provide technical support for linux!
