ok so u can run linux off a CD right? how about an ipod?!

yea it can be none but is not recommended cause ipod hard drives are to small and are not designed to stay on all the time. they will get really hot and as read on some websites will fry your ipod.. as far as cd there are live versions of linux im not sure about the others beyond live versions.youll have to ask a linux guru about that one

you can mount the linux operating system and the mac operating system onto a ipod. this is only recommended for doing 10-15 minute tasks because as word of wisdom said, they ipod harddrivev will fry.

I don't understand the thinking behind "frying your hard drive" as they are the same media contained in modern laptops.

There's no heatsink and no fan in an iPod, laptops usually have fans and small heatsinks.
