OS: Linux
Distro: Fedora Core 4

Whenever I'm trying to install any program (pico, firefox, pine...) I keep getting this error: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I looked around on google and found a solution but it didn't work. http://www.joewein.de/sw/swnotes002.htm

I create the links but I get the same error as before.

Try using yum to install the compat lib.

Code: [ Select ]
yum install compat-libstdc++

I'm trying to install firefox by running the command ./firefox-installer and it still gives me the same error message as before:

did you try having yum install firefox for you? i was getting that error, but only when trying to install the i386 version of firefox in my 64-bit install, while having the 64-bit version of firefox installed. would you happen to be running the 64-bit version of FC4?
