Does anyone have any recommendation for a gui ftp client for linux?

Sinse my laptop started making funny noises i have to do everything on the tower, Most things i like to do command line on linux, but gui ftp clients make editing and testing things a lot easier..

im using kanotix by the way.

gFTP has worked well enough for me. I didn't exactly shop around, though, so there might be better ones.

Hi Guys,
I'm quite new to linux, but I'm a big webdesigner.
Are the any RPM packages for gFTP or any other good GUI FTP program that does not need compiling?

for which distro?
you should have package management software built into your distro that will allow you to install gFTP instead of having to do so manually. manually meaning downloading the rpm and installing it, now compiling it. if you're using any major distro then it should definitely be in a repo..

but just in case, go to http://rpm.pbone.net and search for gftp. if you go to the advanced search you can restrict the results to be specific to your distro..

SUSE 10.1
Yes I have Yast but all the downloads at http://gftp.seul.org/ need compiling.

Just did a search for it in yast, downloaded it from there.

Thanks AnarchY SI

yea, usually if you go to the creators site they dont have prebuilt packages as they dont need to host them. they exist elsewhere on the net, lol.

The only bug I have found with it is that it creates folders and does not allow them to be deleted so I have to phone streamline when ever I want a folder deleting.

I am now using CrossFTP, a multi-tabbed GUI FTP client, which is quite solid. It is worth of a trying, and you may never go back again!
