Can i run linux on my intel mac as a second os

i think its posible i want to run it like bootcamp

i know abought vmware and that stuff but i want to run it alone not under osx

p.s. didnt know to put it in the linux or mac section

yes.
the distros of linux will usually have a mac version. since you have an intel mac, you might not be using the "mac version", as that usually refers to the ppc macs.
http://www.fedorafaq.org/ states that if you were going to install fedora on an intel mac, you'd use the x86_64 version (rather than the i386 or ppc version[which can be found on the main page at the url i linked under the heading Q: Where do I get it?])
this may be the scenario with other distros, it may not. (this post may also be helpful for you)
