Existing system

I have an existing Linux Server which servers as a router, DHCP and web proxy for internal clients.

Users presently exist in a workgroup with a mixture of client operating systems

Users retrieve mails from an Internet based POP3 server using their micorosoft outlook clients.

I would like to implement AD and Exchange while keeping the existing Linux Box

My Questions are:

How can i configure the Linux Box as an SMTP smart host to recieve mails from the internet email server and forward to the Internal Exchange server?

How can i configure the Linux Box to forward mails received from the SMTP connector on Exchange to the Internet mail server?

what is the best way that Spamassasin or any open source anti-spam solution be deployed?

Comments and contributions will be appreciated.

Wow, I made one of these like 7 years ago (or was it 8?) while working for the DoD.

I am sure the process has improved somewhat since then, in fact, here's a tutorial which includes and-viral scanning prior to exchange delivery.

That should tell you everything you need to do to set up your system.
